EXPLORE DALMATIAN ISLANDS

Mario Rent can take you to six different destinations

Split City

The second-largest city in Croatia, Split is a great place to see Dalmatian life as it’s really lived. Always buzzing, this exuberant city has just the right balance of tradition and modernity. Step inside Diocletian’s Palace and you’ll see dozens of bars, restaurants and shops thriving amid the atmospheric old walls where Split life has been going on for thousands of years.

Brač Island

It’s the largest island in central Dalmatia, with two towns, several sleepy villages and a dramatic Mediterranean landscape of steep cliffs, inky waters and pine forests. Brač is famous for two things: its radiant white stone, from which Diocletian’s Palace in are made and Zlatni Rat (Golden horn), the long pebbly beach sticks out lasciviously into the Adriatic.

Island of Vis

Of all the Croatian islands, Vis is the most mysterious – even to locals. The furthest of the main central Dalmatian islands from the coast. Vis is divided between two beautiful small towns at the foot of two large bays: Vis Town, and Komiža. The rugged coast around the island is dotted with gorgeous coves and a couple of sand beaches.

Dubrovnik City

Regardless of whether you are visiting Dubrovnik for the first time or the hundredth, the sense of awe never fails to descend when you set eyes on the beauty of the old town. Indeed it’s hard to imagine anyone becoming jaded by the city’s marble streets, baroque buildings and the endless shimmer of the Adriatic, or failing to be inspired by a walk along the ancient city walls that have protected a civilised, sophisticated republic for centuries.

Korčula Island

Cloaked in vineyards, olives and Aleppo pines, KORČULA is one of the greenest of the Adriatic islands. Quiet coves and small sandy beaches dot the steep southern coast while the northern shore is flatter and more pebbly. The main attraction is Korčula town itself, with its historic centre of narrow alleys and crenelate walls.

This lovely, wooded island (just 59 sq. km) is a popular getaway for Split inhabitants escaping the sultry summer heat. Šolta is a nice mix of atmosphere, nature and local culture that can be enjoyed as a day trip or as a short stay.
